Booking A Class/Workshop
To avoid disappointment all Classes/Workshops must be pre-booked. Due to the very limited enrolment numbers, payment must be made in FULL when booking. Bookings are non-refundable and there are no transfers or reschedules. Please check your diary carefully before you sign up. Of course, if you are unable to attend, you are welcome to send someone in your place; please provide your replacement’s name, phone number and email address in advance of the Class/Workshop.
Our Right To Cancel A Class/Workshop
If a Class/Workshop is cancelled, we will try to give you as much warning as possible by email and telephone. We will refund booking fees or transfer you to a Class/Workshop of the same price, space permitting. However, we cannot accept responsibility for wasted travel or other costs or for disappointment.

Crochet For Beginners Class
You will learn how to make basic crochet stitches including chain stitch, double crochet and treble crochet.

Crochet Snowflakes Class
Crochet Snowflakes to decorate the Christmas Tree…..or even your house for the festive season. We now have classes to show you easy techniques to crochet snowflakes – you’ll be totally hooked when you have completed the class.
The class lasts 2 hours and costs £35.

Corner-To-Corner Crochet Class
Corner-to-corner crochet (often just called C2C crochet) is a terrific technique to add to your crochet repertoire. With C2C crochet, you begin in the corner of a crochet project, typically a crochet blanket, and work towards the other corner in a way that produces a finished project that looks like a textured, layered version of the classic granny square. It is a unique technique with an original look but it builds upon basic crochet skills, which makes it is surprisingly easy to learn. This class will show you the basics of corner-to-corner crochet and give examples of the best C2C crochet patterns for practicing the technique.

Tunisian Crochet For Beginners Workshop

Tunisian crochet, also known as Afghan crochet, is a type of crochet that uses an elongated hook, often with a stopper on the handle end, called an Afghan hook. It is sometimes considered to be a mixture of crocheting and knitting.
This is a 3 hour workshop and cost is £39.

Tunisian Crochet: Decorative Stitch Patterns Workshop

After learning the basics of Tunisian Crochet, this workshop looks at further stitches that create a variety of decoration. Stitch patterns include lighter lacy patterns, as well as textured patterns. The aims of this workshop are to show how versatile Tunisian Crochet can be and to provide project ideas. The participants on the workshop can choose between exploring the stitches on show or to begin a project.
This is a 3 hour workshop and cost is £39.
Experience needed: Proficient crocheters who can follow crochet patterns. This workshop is suitable for those who have participated in the beginners courses, or have some experience of Tunisian Crochet. Someone who has a lot of experience with regular crochet and is confidently competent at regular crochet would fair well on this course too.

You can learn to crochet beautiful baskets which are perfect for keeping tidy your wools and other crafty items. Soon you will have baskets of different colours and sizes for storage.

Beaded Crochet Workshop

This workshop looks at how to work beads into your crochet and is for those
looking for further ways to enhance their crochet skills. The day aims to give
the participant further crochet experience in a range of stitches, including
bead crochet, as well as complimentary decorative crochet stitches. It will
involve following crochet patterns, but it is not essential to be able to do this
before the day. The mini-course will centre on a small project and will aim to
inspire the participant towards future projects. To get the most of the day a
good knowledge of the basics is advised.
This is a 3 hour workshop and cost is £40.
Experience needed: Proficient crocheters who can follow crochet patterns. This workshop is suitable for those who have participated in the beginners courses. Someone who has a lot of experience with regular crochet and is confidently competent at regular crochet would fair well on this course too.

Mosaic Crochet Workshop
Mosaic crochet is an interesting but surprisingly easy way to create colourful
fabrics with two, or more, colours without the need to carry the colours
across the back of the work. The technique produces a geometric effect,
which is often worked symmetrically. This workshop will include working
through a mosaic stitch pattern and learning how to read mosaic charts.

Learn To Knit Fairisle Class
Introduction of colour(s) into your knitting for the depiction of shapes and motifs is fun. In this class you will be shown intarsia and stranded colour knitting (fairisle knitting).

Lace Knitting For Beginners Class
Lace knitting looks complex, with its delicate holes and patterns of shaping. But the secret is, it’s really not! Lace fabrics are created with simple increase and decrease stitches.
We now have classes to introduce Lace Knitting. In these beginner’s classes, we’ll introduce some of the most important stitches in lace knitting, recommend some needles and patterns to try. You will learn the basic skills to begin knitting beautiful lace items. We will look at decrease stitches commonly used in lace, and advice on blocking for the beautiful finished project.

Knit A Cabled Beanie Class
This class introduces you to working cables into your knitting. You will be knitting a beanie hat in the round with cables incorporated. Shaping in the beanie knit is also shown.

Brioche Knitting For Beginners Workshop
Brioche knitting is a very versatile technique that in its simplest form may be worked quite easily without the knitter really being aware that they are using such a fantastic method. It creates a fabric that is reversible and because of that, the results are quite thick and full bodied. It can therefore be quite lustrous.
This workshop will teach the basics of this technique, as well as show its capabilities. Its aim is to showcase a different knitting technique and inspire the participants towards future projects.

Learn To Knit Socks
Knitting a sock has many levels of expertise and for this reason it can excite or scare knitters. The increase in many coloured sock yarns has meant that many have caught the intrigue of knitting socks. This course looks at the techniques used in knitting socks, including working in the round on double-pointed needles, turning a heel and grafting the toe. Socks can be made in various ways and this course looks at the basics for those starting their knitted sock journey.
This is a 3½ hour class and costs £48.

Knit A Lacy Cowl In The Round Class
As well as socks, many garments and accessories are knitted in the round. This method of knitting ensures there is no need to sew up seams and the garment is completed after casting off. We will show you how to join up your cast on stitches and knit a simple lacy cowl.

An Introduction To Basic Knitwear Design Workshop
The tutor for this workshop is Sara Thornett. Sara has a Masters degree in Fashion and Knitwear. She is a published designer with patterns in books and online. Sara is a very experienced tutor and works nationwide as part of the Rowan Workshop Team.
This course is suitable for knitters who can already knit and follow a basic knitting pattern but want to adapt or design their own knitted garments or accessories. In this workshop you will be guided through the process of how to alter and adapt an existing pattern, giving you the opportunity to learn basic design skills. The agenda for the day is mainly discussion and does not include any actual knitting.
This is a 5 hour workshop and costs £52.

Where to get the measurements from for your design

Steeking Workshop
The tutor for this workshop is Sara Thornett. Sara has a Masters degree in Fashion and Knitwear. She is a published designer with patterns in books and online. Sara is a very experienced tutor and works nationwide as part of the Rowan Workshop Team.
In knitting, Steeking is a shortcut used to knit garments such as sweaters in the round without interruption for openings or sleeves until the end. After completing a tube, a straight line is cut along the centre of a column of stitches, in order to make room for an opening or place to attach another piece. Steeks are made either side of where the cut will take place in order to secure the knitted stitches.
This workshop looks at one way of steeking, which uses crochet to secure the stitches. The cut edge will then be worked into by picking up stitches. This workshop is for the experienced knitter.
This is a 3 hour workshop and the cost is £50.
Materials provided: Instructions, Yarn of contrast colours for knitting prep.
A small amount of knitting prep is required to enable you to get the most of your time at the workshop.

Double Sided Knitting Workshop

Double Sided Knitting is a very fascinating technique for the hand knitter and one that is fun to explore and create. This workshop looks at getting started with the technique – how to work basic fabrics which have one colour on one side and another on the other, giving a reversible finish. There will also be stitch patterns with all-over geometric patterns to try with the same reversible colourings. This is perfect for scarves and cowl accessories, which this workshop will give the inspiration for.

Knit Brioche In The Round With 2 Colours Workshop
Two colour Brioche stitch creates a double thick fabric and is really very beautiful on both sides. This workshop will teach this lustrous stitch knitted in the round. The project is a headband and there will
be brioche decreases and increases.

Knit A Beaded Bauble Workshop
The tutor for this workshop is Mary Leeson. Mary is a very experienced knitter who test knits for Debbie Abrahams and Marie Wallin, and test crochets for Jane Crowfoot. Mary has tutored in UK and US.
Beaded Baubles make perfect decorations for the Christmas tree. They look spectacular and also make fabulous gifts.
This workshop shows the basics of how to add beads to knitting projects. It will demonstrate knitting a lacy cover for the Christmas baubles.
This is a 3½ hour workshop and costs £47.
This workshop is suitable for knitters who can already knit and follow a basic knitting pattern.
Materials provided: Instructions, DK weight yarn, beads, beading needle, white polystyrene bauble.
Materials to bring: Size 4.00mm Knitting Needles – these can be circular knitting needles minimum 60cm/15cm double pointed needles (if you want to knit in the round) or straight single pointed needles.
Sewing up needle
Knit A Jumper Top Down and In The Round
Many jumpers are knitted in the round from the neckline to the bottom edge. This method of construction allows for neat and seamless knitting. This also enables the knitter to try on the garment so that a desirable garment length is achieved.
Stitches are cast on and joined in the round for the neck opening. The neck opening is shaped with short rows, and the armholes are shaped with raglan increases. Once the armholes have been shaped, stitches are removed and set aside for the sleeves to be knit later. The body is then completed in stocking stitch with a ribbed edge. The sleeves are then knit in the round and finished with a ribbed edge.
This is a 4½ hour workshop and costs £49.
This workshop is for the experienced knitter who can knit in the round.

Mosaic Knitting Workshop
Mosaic knitting offers interesting stitch patterns that use two or more colours
and are often quite striking and textural, yet relatively simple to work, as the
yarn is not carried across the back. This workshop will include working
through a mosaic stitch pattern and learning how to read its chart, as well as
working towards a small project.
