Jamieson & Smith A Shetland Story

Jamieson & Smith A Shetland Story

£19.99
Shetland textiles have for centuries been loved and admired across the globe. With our characterful sheep and instantly recognisable styles of Fair Isle and Shetland Lace knitting, the Shetland islands have long been associated with a thriving local wool industry. At the heart of this industry is Jamieson & Smith, Shetland Woolbrokers, who have been buying and selling Real Shetland Wool since the 1930s. Today, Jamieson & Smith is run by a skilled and passionate team who continue to build on the company's proud legacy. Inside this book, you'll find out about the people who founded, built and sustained the Shetland Woolbrokers, and discover the history of this world-famous textile brand. To celebrate both our heritage and our future, we've commissioned ten handknit designs. Drawing on the distinctive legacies of Shetland Lace and Fair Isle knitting, worked in our yarns, and photographed right here in Shetland, these signature handknits unite the story of Shetland wool together with the rich textile heritage of the islands. Designs from Sandra Manson, Kharis Leggate, Ella Gordon, Mary Henderson, Gudrun Johnston, Mary Jane Mucklestone, Lesley Smith.

West Yorkshire Spinners Winwick Mum Sock Pattern Collection
Patterns

West Yorkshire Spinners Winwick Mum Sock Pattern Collection

£9.00
Winwick Mum Sock Pattern Collection - Christine Perry Each of the patterns in this book has been designed with the adventurous beginner sock knitter in mind. My aim has always been to encourage beginners to understand how a sock works from cuff to toe, and to not only enhance their sock drawers but also their well-being as they discover the simple pleasure of knitting in the round. If you can knit and purl, you can knit socks and once you can knit socks, you can knit anything. Start with plain socks if you've never knitted them before - or launch straight in with the pattern that you like the best. Be fearless. It won't be long before you're wearing your hand-knits and your feet will thank you for it, but do be warned - sock knitting is addictive. With much love Christine Featured yarns - Signature 4ply

Arnall-Culliford Knitwear Confident Knitting A Third Year of Techniques

£20.00
Jen and Jim Arnall-Culliford of AC Knitwear have a passion for teaching knitters new techniques clearly and simply. How confident are you when it comes to your knitting? When you see a pattern that uses an unfamiliar technique, do you dive straight in? Or do you find yourself knitting the same sorts of projects over and over again? There’s so much to be gained from learning something new, but all too often, people shy away from it. Confident Knitting: A Third Year of Techniques is designed to help you tackle new projects with, well, utmost confidence! This technique-based programme features twelve patterns, from twelve amazing designers supported with twelve photo and video tutorials – giving you twelve chances to find some new joy in your knitting! Confident Knitting follows a similar format to our previous books A Year of Techniques and Boost Your Knitting, but, like both of those publications, is a completely self-contained programme, so there’s no need to have already worked through any of our previous publications! Techniques covered in this book are: Amazing blocking Catching floats in colourwork Embroidering your knitting Folded hem Garter stitch short-row heel German twisted cast on for ribbing Grab stitches I-cord cast off Modular knitting Mosaic knitting Reversible cables Vikkel braids A Year of Techniques brings you 12 patterns and tutorials to upgrade your knitting skills. Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top
Patterns

Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top

£4.50
Bradley Tank Top - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison This is the Bradley Tank Top, a simple colourwork tank top. It uses the simple slip stitch technique so you are only ever using one colour in the row. It is worked in pieces and then sewn together. I like to give names to my patterns that relate to the pattern in some way. For me this simple slip stitch pattern remains me of brickwork. So I looked in to the history of brick making in Yorkshire and found there was a Victorian company from Wakefield that specialised in manufacturing braickmaking machinery. They were called Bradley & Craven Ltd. The pattern includes two lengths, cropped (like the one in the images) or longer.
