Cocoknits Sweater Workshop
Patterns

Cocoknits Sweater Workshop

£38.00
With over 30 years of knitting, designing, and teaching experience, Julie Weisenberger presents her first book: Cocoknits Sweater Workshop which includes nine new designs. The book expands on her signature simple, seamless, top-down styling. Beyond being a knitwear collection, this book also explains the Cocoknits Method, a system of tracking knitting progress in your own easy to follow customized worksheet. Unlike most traditional patterns that create flat shapes, the tailored style of construction in these patterns creates truly three dimensional garments that impart a great fit upon completion. The innovative colour-coded Cocoknits Worksheet shows exactly where to work shaping elements without having to continually read and interpret pattern abbreviations, and at the same time allows the knitter complete control over customization to achieve a fantastic fit. All designs are worked from the neckline down, so once the neck and yoke area are established, the knitter can just cruise through generating the sweater and not worry about counting or losing track of their place in the pattern. Another advantage of knitting top-down is the ability to try on your garment as you work, to ensure the fit is right. In addition to all new patterns, Julie has dedicated a section of the book to an in-depth guide to choosing the right patterns for your figure type with considerations for colourwork, textured stitches, and hemlines all working in concert to create the right silhouette for you.

Laine Publishing The Knitted Fabric: Colourwork Projects for You and Your Home

£37.50
The Knitted Fabric: Colourwork Projects for You and Your Home - Dee Hardwicke
Brimming with artistic inspiration and filled with patterns for gorgeous knitwear and joyful pieces for the home, this creative and original book invites you to step inside Dee Hardwicke’s world. Illustrated throughout with beautiful watercolours and painterly photography, The Knitted Fabric brings the pages of Dee’s sketchbooks to life. As Dee explains, “I find the process of knitting very similar to painting, with each stitch being a brushstroke of colour. As stitches loop together, they create a knitted fabric, a kind of narrative of art, making and the people and landscapes that inspire me”. Just like the 20 nature-inspired designs within it, this unique book is something to treasure. Dee Hardwicke is an artist, designer and knitter whose work is inspired by her passion for colour and by her love of the British landscape. Dee’s designs have been used in exclusive collaborations with partners including the National Trust and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Her previous knitting books include A Story in Yarn: How to Design and Knit an Intarsia Heirloom Quilt (Quail Publishing, 2016) and several titles with leading British yarn producers and designers Rowan. Each design begins life in her sketchbooks.
  • 20 colourwork knitting patterns (9 cushions, 3 wraps, 3 quilts, 2 sweaters, 1 vest, 1 hat, 1 pair of gloves)
  • A fold-out map for the Butterfly Patchwork Quilt

Jane Crowfoot Magic Circles Scarf
Patterns

Jane Crowfoot Magic Circles Scarf

£6.95
I love looking at how shapes fit together and had wanted to create a tessellating circle design for some time. Circular motifs can be tricky to fit together and it is common to find the circular shape becomes slightly distorted when motifs are pieced together, so rather than create motifs that are square or octagonal, I have designed cross-shaped infill pieces that protect the shape of the large circles. Finished blocked measurements: approx 117cm (46in) x 117cm (46in).

Pompom Quarterly Issue 19

Pompom Quarterly Issue 19

£9.50
Issue 19: Winter 2016 With the arrival of winter comes the opportunity to revel in our favourite woolly pasttime as we move towards colder months. While the light and seasons change we can look back at the year so far and take stock of what we've made and learned. The inspiration for our Winter 2016 issue is 'reflections', interpreted in many ways by our contributors in articles, cocktail recipes, and a beautiful set of illustrations. This theme has also been translated into stunning knits by our designers; abstract forms of shadows, or refracted light on water became the inspiration for the playful symmetry and elegant geometry of these eleven designs. Featuring designs by: Julia Farwell-Clay, Justyna Lorkowska, Clare Lakewood, Kiyomi Burgin, Sachiko Burgin, Francesca Hughs, Solène Le Roux, Georgia Farrell, Linda Dubec, Tatyana Scotce, and Sarah Shepherd.

Tin Can Knits Photosynthesis

Tin Can Knits Photosynthesis

£5.50
Knit in Lace or 4ply weight yarn. Graceful leafy lace radiates outward, forming a generous scarf-sized shawl. For lace (fingering) weight versions finished shawl measures 50 (68)” wide and 21 (24)” deep. More repeats can be worked to increase the size of the shawl but this will require more yarn. Finished size will vary depending on how aggressively the finished shawl is blocked. If you are adding beads to your shawl you will need a 0.6 mm crochet hook and 1300 (1000) #06 size beads (or more for larger shawl).

Purl & Jane Nora Sleeveless Gansay
Patterns

Purl & Jane Nora Sleeveless Gansay

£4.50
Nora Sleeveless Gansay - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison The Nora Sleeveless Gansay was first published in 2018 and is the first Purl &Jane garment that is knitted in the round. It is knitted from the bottom up. The bottom part of the gansay uses just the knit stitch with rib at the sides, so is perfect if this is your first time knitting in the round. It then divides for the front and back, which are then knitted in rows. This top section takes a little time to get used to the pattern. So if you fancied knitting in the round without the tricky stitches at the top then there are two more patterns to choose from – Bray Tank Top and Fabrile Tank Top. This sleeveless top uses the same cable and stitch pattern as the Woodhouse Gansay (The Woodhouse Gansay is knitted in pieces) The Nora is inspired, like the Woodhouse, by my total and absolute love for fisherman’s gansays. The history and why they were made is what knitting means to me – a personal hand knitted garment that keeps the wearer warm, dry and surrounded with a feeling of being loved.
