Laine Publishing Magazine Issue 25

£22.00
Laine Issue 25, May 2025 Our beautiful summer issue, Laine 25, Stillness, takes you to an old summer cabin by the lakeside — nestled in the woods, surrounded by birch and pine trees, fresh waters and blue skies. The photos capture the quiet beauty and serenity of Finnish summer. This issue includes twelve light and relaxed summer garments and accessories, perfect for the warmer months. The knits are worked in a variety of yarns suited for summer, and they feature many interesting techniques and textures. Issue 25, Summer 2025, includes: 148 pages 12 knitting patterns: 2 sweaters, 3 cardigans, 3 T-shirts/tops, 3 shawls, 1 pair of socks. An interview with the British knitter and yarn entrepreneur Milli Abrams, who is set to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in a bid to raise money for charity. An article about Stéphanie Schiffgens, a shepherdess from Oregon who raises Gotland sheep in the US, producing long and lustrous wool adored by knitters around the world. Jeanette Sloan’s column Fibre Talk, where she meets Louis Boria (@brooklynboyknits), a New York-based knitwear designer, teacher, activist and TEDx speaker. The Five Ways article providing experts’ tips on how to take better photos of your knits. Where I Knit: A regular piece that pictures people knitting in their favourite spot. In this issue, we meet the Finnish Tiina Lehtonen, who likes to knit in her allotment garden cabin. Seasonal recipes to inspire your summer cooking. Book reviews. Designers featured in this issue: Audrey Borrego, Antonio Jesús Castillo Urquízar, Lindsey Fowler, Sus Gepard, Maria Gomes, Kaori Katsurada, Linda Lencovic, Lotta H Löthgren, Marina Storm, Maaike van Geijn, Imke von Nathusius and Marie-Ève Wedge.

Laine Publishing Crochet Crush

£32.00
Timeless fashion and modern practicality are at the core of Crochet Crush, the book from Molla Mills. The 23 crochet patterns include both ideas for home decor and accessories to brighten up your everyday life. The patterns in the book form a cohesive collection, making it easy for the reader to combine different patterns and change colours to fit their own personal taste. The designs have been influenced by current trends as well as the moods and aesthetics of past decades. Most importantly, however, they have been inspired by Molla’s journeys around the world. Molla Mills (born 1979) is an internationally known Finnish designer who learned how to crochet from her mother as a little girl in Kurikka, Finland. She has studied fashion, marketing and art and has written several crochet books that have been published for instance in Brazil and in South Korea. Molla also designs pattern collections for different yarn brands and travels around the world teaching crochet workshops.

Marie Wallin Wren

Marie Wallin Wren

£6.00
Finch - Marie Wallin ‘WREN’ is one of two designs I have created using Baa Ram Ewe’s Titus yarn and is one of my first designs not using Rowan yarn! It has been such a pleasure designing with this lovely 4ply yarn as it is beautifully soft and a dream to knit with. This design is a fitted shape and will equally look good with a tweed skirt or a pair of jeans. It is a good first fairisle garment to knit if you are new to fairisle knitting as it is worked entirely in the round and therefore knitted constantly on the right side. Recommended yarns: Fingering/4ply

Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top
Patterns

Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top

£4.50
Bradley Tank Top - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison This is the Bradley Tank Top, a simple colourwork tank top. It uses the simple slip stitch technique so you are only ever using one colour in the row. It is worked in pieces and then sewn together. I like to give names to my patterns that relate to the pattern in some way. For me this simple slip stitch pattern remains me of brickwork. So I looked in to the history of brick making in Yorkshire and found there was a Victorian company from Wakefield that specialised in manufacturing braickmaking machinery. They were called Bradley & Craven Ltd. The pattern includes two lengths, cropped (like the one in the images) or longer.
