Collaboration In Design - Rosee Woodland, Emma Vining, Helen Metcalfe and Francesca Hughes At West Yorkshire Spinners, experimenting and developing British yarns is our passion. So to create this amazing garment collection we commissioned four talented designers to join us in a unique collaboration of their ideas and our new ColourLabDk. Emma Vining, Francesca Hughes, Rosee Woodland and Helen Metcalfe have each brought their own distinctive individual styles to the project. The result is a formula for success and a diverse range of fantastic patterns for you to create. From Rosee, there's vibrant and playful Scandinavian-inspired designs. Francesca's focus is on contemporary garments in lace-like textures that reveal the charm of neutral shades. Helen celebrates strong shapes using cable and bramble stitch whilst Emma re-invents the classics in beautiful bold shades and intricate cabling. Inspired by the great stitch definition and 18 bright solid shades of ColourLabDk yarns, our collaborators have designed 8 original women’s handknits in 100% British wool for you to create at home. Jane Crowfoot Twinkle Bunting
Patterns

Jane Crowfoot Twinkle Bunting

£6.95
I love how decorating the house at Christmas time brings back so many family memories. We have some decorations that date back quite a few generations and I especially like these old pieces. When setting out to design this bunting I wanted to create some crochet motifs that echoed the shape of our precious vintage Christmas tree baubles. I have added beads, bells and little 'shisha' mirrors to add a touch of sparkle and I am so pleased with the results. The pattern for the bunting is written with three classic shades in mind - Navy, Mustard and Grey, but you could raid your stash for multicoloured left overs to create a very different, vibrant look.

Kate Davies Inkling

Kate Davies Inkling

£20.00
An inkling might be regarded as the very beginning of a thought … After an inspiring residency with the British Council and Applied Arts Scotland, Kate Davies took up inkle weaving and found that the experience of learning a new skill, completely from scratch, profoundly revivified her creative practice. Learning how to weave narrow patterned bands on an inkle loom allowed Kate to reflect upon the interconnections between different cultures and practices of making across the global north and south, and also helped her to approach the design process in a new way. The fifteen creative and colourful projects in this book are the result of such reflections. Alongside eleven patterns for hand-knitting — produced in Kate’s signature clear style, across an inclusive size range—are a selection of simple projects to weave on an inkle loom. This fresh, spirited, and colourful collection reveals the far-reaching creative potential of approaching design with a beginner’s mind and asking oneself, what if? Might you be inspired by some inklings of your own? Book includes 11 garment and accessory patterns for hand-knitting in Kate’s Milarrochy Tweed yarn, plus 4 drafts for plain and pick-up patterns to weave on an inkle loom. A Ravelry download code is included.

Hunter Hammersen Curls 3: Versatile, Wearable Wraps to Knit at Any Gauge

£19.99
Curls 3: Versatile, Wearable Wraps to Knit at Any Gauge - Hunter Hammersen Curls are marvelously flexible, wearable wraps that work with any weight of yarn, can be knit at any gauge, and look beautiful at any size. Knit them small and wear them as a cowl. Keep going to make a scarf. Do a bit more, and you've got a shawl. They form a wonderfully curved shape that drapes beautifully around your neck and shoulders and can be worn in lots of different ways. Use your favourite yarn, and knit at whatever gauge gives you the fabric you like best. You're in charge, you can't mess it up, and you're going to love the result! One small note, the structure of these pieces lends itself much better to charted instructions than to written out instructions. So please be aware that all the patterns use charts. If you're new to charts, never fear. There is a lovely introduction to using charts at the front of the book. Read through it, and you'll be ready to go in no time!

Jane Crowfoot Julie’s Bunting

£6.95
My amazing sister-in law, Julie, adored bunting. Any excuse for a party and Julie would be there with a step ladder and loads of bunting to decorate the room! We lost Julie after a courageous battle with cancer earlier on this year, so I wanted to design something in her memory. A pretty, floral bunting that features some beads and yarn in her favourite colour, yellow, was the obvious choice.
