Jane Crowfoot Summer Palace Wrap
Patterns

Jane Crowfoot Summer Palace Wrap

£6.95
This wrap design was initially inspired by an image of a printed cushion cover I found in a magazine, but having visited the Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace near Mysore in India a few years ago, I was inspired to look at the design again and link it into my Mysore Collection. I feel that the design and the wonderful colours within the range of Baa Ram Ewe's lovely new yarn Colourwork Pip reflects the elaborate carved and painted wooden pillars and painted friezes found within the building. Finished blocked measurements - Approximately 40cm (15 3/4) wide x 170cm (67in) long.

Cocoknits Sweater Workshop

Cocoknits Sweater Workshop

£38.00
With over 30 years of knitting, designing, and teaching experience, Julie Weisenberger presents her first book: Cocoknits Sweater Workshop which includes nine new designs. The book expands on her signature simple, seamless, top-down styling. Beyond being a knitwear collection, this book also explains the Cocoknits Method, a system of tracking knitting progress in your own easy to follow customized worksheet. Unlike most traditional patterns that create flat shapes, the tailored style of construction in these patterns creates truly three dimensional garments that impart a great fit upon completion. The innovative colour-coded Cocoknits Worksheet shows exactly where to work shaping elements without having to continually read and interpret pattern abbreviations, and at the same time allows the knitter complete control over customization to achieve a fantastic fit. All designs are worked from the neckline down, so once the neck and yoke area are established, the knitter can just cruise through generating the sweater and not worry about counting or losing track of their place in the pattern. Another advantage of knitting top-down is the ability to try on your garment as you work, to ensure the fit is right. In addition to all new patterns, Julie has dedicated a section of the book to an in-depth guide to choosing the right patterns for your figure type with considerations for colourwork, textured stitches, and hemlines all working in concert to create the right silhouette for you.

Kate Davies Margery Allingham's Mysterious Knits
Patterns

Kate Davies Margery Allingham’s Mysterious Knits

£25.00
What happens when you bring literary plot and pattern design together? Margery Allingham was one of the undoubted queens of British detective fiction’s Golden Age, and this bringing together of novel-inspired handknits with critical, contextual essays offers an in-the-round celebration of her work. Kate Davies’ collection speaks to the detective author’s inventive spirit: a single, unbroken strand of yarn transforms itself into a three-dimensional slipper; hats and pullovers are knitted from side to side, while a triangular shawl up-ends itself to eventually become a cardigan. The techniques are all contemporary, but there’s a nod to classic twentieth-century knitting style as well: narrow garter-stitch stripes meet modern short row shaping, while slipped stitches and Art Deco chevrons are incorporated into light knits that will work in many wardrobes. Alongside this most mysterious collection, literary contributors explore themes that illuminate Margery Allingham’s creative world: from the relationship between patterns and plotting, to the fashion, film and popular culture of the 1930s and 1940s; from the wide ranging role played by knitting and knitters in detective fiction, to the distinctive Essex landscape that inspired Margery Allingham throughout her life. Chock full of revelations, plot twists, and (of course) the occasional red herring, this highly original exploration of one of detective fiction’s most ingenious authors is sure to surprise and delight. Contributors: Tom Barr, Caroline Crampton, Kate Davies, Veronica Horwell, Julia Jones, Sarah Mackay, Imogen Robertson.

Marie Wallin Finch

Marie Wallin Finch

£6.00
Finch - Marie Wallin ‘FINCH’ is one of two designs I have created using Baa Ram Ewe’s Titus yarn and is one of my first designs not using Rowan yarn! It has been such a pleasure designing with this lovely 4ply yarn as it is beautifully soft and a dream to knit with. This design is knitting flat and in pieces so you will need to knit fairisle on the wrong side. It is an oversized shape and therefore very comfortable to wear, styled simply with a pair of jeans or other trousers. My model Georgia loved this sweater so much that she asked to keep the photography garment as part of her modelling fee! Please note that this design is knitted flat in pieces and therefore you will need to knit fairisle on the wrong side as well as the right side. Recommended yarns: Fingering/4ply

Jane Crowfoot Twinkle Bunting

Jane Crowfoot Twinkle Bunting

£6.95
I love how decorating the house at Christmas time brings back so many family memories. We have some decorations that date back quite a few generations and I especially like these old pieces. When setting out to design this bunting I wanted to create some crochet motifs that echoed the shape of our precious vintage Christmas tree baubles. I have added beads, bells and little 'shisha' mirrors to add a touch of sparkle and I am so pleased with the results. The pattern for the bunting is written with three classic shades in mind - Navy, Mustard and Grey, but you could raid your stash for multicoloured left overs to create a very different, vibrant look.

Pompom Quarterly Issue 15
Patterns

Pompom Quarterly Issue 15

£9.50
Issue 15: Winter 2015 Time to feast your eyes on our glam-tastic winter edition - all inspired by the Art Deco and Art Nouveau stylings of iconic 1960s-70s British brand, Boba. We have ten modern knits designed through the lens of the Biba aesthetic, which in turn was inspired by even earlier periods. We shot part of this issue in a 1920s style cocktail bar in London and in the spirit of reviving vintage trends (as Biba itself did in the 1960s and 1970s) our winter recipes are new takes on classic cocktails, adding a little extra seasonal spice and sparkle. Featuring designs by: Bristol Ivy, Olga Buraya-Kefelian, Cirilia Rose, Rachel Coopey, Courtney Spainhower, Kiyomi Burgin, Jemima Bicknell, Sophie Scott, Amu Van De Laar, Clare Lakewood. We are particularly smitten with Katie Green's Bowerbird comic, which beautifully illustrates the unending potential and dreams we have for newly acquired yarn. In addition to lovely illustrations, we have some excellent writing for you this issue, with articles on Activist Embroidery by Francesca Baldry, Lora Angelova's explorations as a Heritage Chemist, and Anna Maltz shares her ideas on beating the winter blues. So get a head start on beating those blues and join us in embracing the glamorous side of winter knitting with this line up of woolly lovelies.

Jane Crowfoot Glad Tidings Wrap
Patterns

Jane Crowfoot Glad Tidings Wrap

£6.95
The Glad Tidings Wrap was originally designed as the Advent project for Jimmy Beans Wool in the US and released in December 2021. The original design used 16 mini skeins of yarn, with a new shade added to the design each day in the lead up to Christmas. The design is a great stash-buster if you have lots of little bits of left over 4-ply yarn, or you could use a curated collection of mini skeins. The wrap is made by working a central crochet band which is added to daily. In the Jimmy Beans version the colours used on each side of the central band pretty much matched each other in terms of colour and we have made a version using Scheepjes Whirl, which does the same. You could create a quite different effect by using random shades or treating the wrap like a 'temperature' project where you assign colours to different temperatures and select your yarn according to the warmth of the weather that day. However you choose to approach making the wrap, I hope you will enjoy creating this project. The pattern includes full written instructions, images and charts, and is available in UK and US terms.
