Pompom Quarterly Issue 34
Patterns

Pompom Quarterly Issue 34

£12.50
Issue 34: Autumn 2020 This autumn issue of Pom Pom sees our collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Ocean Rose. Their theme of 'Home' makes for a dreamy collection of cosy autumnal knits, evoking the places that bring connection and comfort. This inspiration was chosen long before our current situation of sheltering in place, and has brought about the unique challenge of our models capturing this quarter's beautiful knits with micro-shoots in their abodes. Ocean, known for their naturally hand-dyed yarns, has brought their poetic voice, palette, thoughtfulness and sensitivity to these pages. Our designers have conjured their own interpretations of home with pieces that create a sense of warmth, not just against autumn chills, with references to traditional patterns and their bonds to special places. Featuring designs by: Sylvia Watts-Cherry, Aurélie Tixier, Tressa Weidenaar, Armenuhi Avanian, Malia Mae Joseph, Audrey Borrego, A L Leong, Isabel Alé, Tiffany Wong, Weichien Chan, ThePetiteKnitter. Alongside the patterns we have articles from Sukrita Mahon sharing their wisdom on choosing yarns, and Elliot Maud on self expression and belonging in the fibre community. Cat Seixas shares her recipe for a no-bake cheesecake, an easy dish which is the ideal excuse to find the occasion to celebrate. For makers, mending seems to go hand-in-hand and Maya Skylark provides a tutorial for a pocket sized tool kit that you can keep close to home. We acknowledge the privilege reflected in these pages that show the warmth and happiness of home. We hope this issue can speak to a deeper sense of safety and belonging than just the place you rest your head. As Ocean puts it, 'Home is where you are, where your energy rests, home changes, and transforms. Home is our connection to all we hold sacred. Home is..'

Pompom Quarterly Issue 30

£12.50
Issue 30: Autumn 2019 This Autumn we're heading to the coast with our knitting. The patterns in this issue are inspired by the sea, its surroundings, and its beautiful ever-changing shapes and textures. The yarn palette draws from the many colours of the sea, as well as the soft shades of sand, shingle, and shells. Our designers have created a treasure chest of patterns: four jumpers, two wraps, a cardi, a tee, and a hat that will see you from high tide to low tide as the season shifts. Featuring designs by: Kiyomi Burgin, Sachiko Burgin, Meghan Fernandes, Annie Haas, Sylvia Watts-Cherry, Ainur Berkimbayeva, Emma Ducher, Inyoung Kim, Katrin Schubert, Andrea Cull. Other contributions include poetry and images from Ocean Rose, musings on sailors’ knots and knitting from Clara Parkes, and an easy pickle recipe from Rebecca Lawrence to give you a taste of salty seas.

Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top
Patterns

Purl & Jane Bradley Tank Top

£4.50
Bradley Tank Top - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison This is the Bradley Tank Top, a simple colourwork tank top. It uses the simple slip stitch technique so you are only ever using one colour in the row. It is worked in pieces and then sewn together. I like to give names to my patterns that relate to the pattern in some way. For me this simple slip stitch pattern remains me of brickwork. So I looked in to the history of brick making in Yorkshire and found there was a Victorian company from Wakefield that specialised in manufacturing braickmaking machinery. They were called Bradley & Craven Ltd. The pattern includes two lengths, cropped (like the one in the images) or longer.
