This tunic-length sweater features a striking twisted-stitch cable panel and set-in sleeves for a sleek and tailored look. The pattern covers ten sizes from a 32” to a 50” bust with a classic style to suit all body shapes. Catkin is worked seamlessly in the round, from the bottom up, and the sleeves are then set in, using short rows, from the top down. Instructions are also included in this pattern booklet for the simple, slouchy Catkin Hat, which will knit up quickly over the course of an evening or two, and will allow you to test your gauge and to familarise yourself with the cable pattern before embarking on the sweater.

Issue 34: Autumn 2020 This autumn issue of Pom Pom sees our collaboration with the multidisciplinary artist Ocean Rose. Their theme of 'Home' makes for a dreamy collection of cosy autumnal knits, evoking the places that bring connection and comfort. This inspiration was chosen long before our current situation of sheltering in place, and has brought about the unique challenge of our models capturing this quarter's beautiful knits with micro-shoots in their abodes. Ocean, known for their naturally hand-dyed yarns, has brought their poetic voice, palette, thoughtfulness and sensitivity to these pages. Our designers have conjured their own interpretations of home with pieces that create a sense of warmth, not just against autumn chills, with references to traditional patterns and their bonds to special places. We acknowledge the privilege reflected in these pages that show the warmth and happiness of home. We hope this issue can speak to a deeper sense of safety and belonging than just the place you rest your head. Issue 46: Autumn 2023 Collaborating with creatives we admire is one of the great joys of making Pom Pom. Candice English of The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers has been an inspiration to us for a long time, both as a dyer and as an advocate for Indigenous women. We are thrilled to welcome Candice as Guest Editor for this issue. Candice has brought a fresh perspective to these pages, along with her distinctive aesthetic, drawing from both her Indigenous roots and life in the American West. We are so grateful to her for sharing herself, her work, and her family with us. It’s an honour to be trusted with the stories and creativity of each contributor to this autumn issue. The patterns in this issue are a representation of hard and soft duality in the American West. The hard work embedded in the people of Montana is a result of the softness you find in the spirit of Indigenous homelands. Curls: Versatile, Wearable Wraps to Knit at Any Gauge - Hunter Hammersen Curls are marvelously flexible, wearable wraps that work with any weight of yarn, can be knit at any gauge, and look beautiful at any size. Knit them small and wear them as a cowl. Keep going to make a scarf. Do a bit more, and you've got a shawl. They form a wonderfully curved shape that drapes beautifully around your neck and shoulders and can be worn in lots of different ways. Use your favourite yarn, and knit at whatever gauge gives you the fabric you like best. You're in charge, you can't mess it up, and you're going to love the result! One small note, the structure of these pieces lends itself much better to charted instructions than to written out instructions. So please be aware that all the patterns use charts.
