Kate Davies Allover

£22.00
Your mind haes a joy o’creation laek writin a rhyme — hit’s nae lee — whin your fingers and wires in relation maks da colours an patterns agree! Stella Sutherland, Da Allover In Allover, Kate Davies has gathered together a colourful collection to capture the joy of stranded knitting. Inside thisbook you’ll find fourteen designs that are bold, playful, and eclectic. Influenced by northern colourwork traditions from Norway and Sweden to Iceland and Shetland, there are fourteen designs to choose from, including graphic hats and mitts and cosy yoke pullovers and cardigans. In Starnkeeker, the familiar monochrome motifs of Selbu accessories are adapted for a colour- blocked Argyle vest, while the Tìoraidh cardigan reveals how a small “filler” motif might become a two tone pattern’s main attraction. Kate encourages you to mix things up as well: many of the patterns are charted and photographed in several different different colourways in patterns that are full of knitterly inspiration and opportunities for play. Whether you are whipping up a jolly pair of Pouzles, or taking your time over a show-stopping piece like Schene, there’s much creative joy to be found in the pages of this colourful book.

Purl & Jane Frankie Mittens
Patterns

Purl & Jane Frankie Mittens

£4.50
Frankie Mittens - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison I designed these Frankie Mittens because several knitters expressed a desire to knit socks* but wanted to practise on double pointed needles without turning a heel! While for me and experienced knitters I love knitting Frankie Mittens as they are quick to knit gifts and are great for relaxing evening knitting. One of the most exciting things about these mittens is that the 2X2 is magical. It fits everyone’s hands! I designed the mittens with this rib for this reason and it is so lovely to see it happen! A gentleman, who said he had larger than average hands, tried on the pair in my Skipton Studio and they fitted him. He then took the pattern and yarn to knit his very first pair of fingerless mittens. The Frankie Mittens use 35g/140m of the 100g ball so there is enough to make three pairs with one ball, with perhaps the last one being a little bit shorter than the others. Or great for using up left over sock yarn.

Baa Ram Ewe Ribblehead
Patterns

Baa Ram Ewe Ribblehead

£5.00
Ribblehead - Alison Moreton The design for this beautiful cardigan is inspired by the Ribblehead viaduct with the view of the landscape framed by the archers of the viaduct. The soft halo of Titus is used to create a gradient of hills and sunset sky, applied to the collar and cuffs of a close fitting yoked cardigan. Worked in a modified slipped stitch colourwork technique, only one colour is used in each row. An alternative option uses a single strand of Dovestone in one colour instead of the double strand of Titus. Featured yarns: Titus, Dovestone

Pompom Quarterly Issue 39
Patterns

Pompom Quarterly Issue 39

£12.50
Issue 39: Winter 2021 The knit and crochet designs in Issue 39 are inspired by rhythm! Our Winter 2021 collection is packed with patterns which honour echoes, explore semitonal shifts in colour, and include repeating motifs to allow you to get into a stitching groove. We love how the designers have taken our auditory theme and created patterns which highlight the aspects of rhythm we see, such as written musical scores and the visual representation of soundwaves. No matter at what tempo you craft, there's a winter project for you here! Featuring designs by: Judith Brand, Astrid Colding Sivertsen, Adella Dutra, Ana D, Tetyana Vyazovska, Johanna Kunin, Nidhi Kansal, Keiko Kikuno, Cleo Malone, Valerie Ng. Artist, maker, and stylist Lydia Morrow was the creative director for this issue's photoshoot! We've long admired Lydia's jazzy sense of style, so we're honoured to publish her vision in our pages. After you’ve found your crafting cadence, enjoy the two articles in Issue 39. In 'Rhythms of Handiwork', Felicity (Felix) Ford explores the communal and historical relationship between craft and rhythm, while Claudia Khan writes touchingly about the delicate melody of parenthood, partnership, and time in her article, 'A Family Song'. Kiyomi and Sachiko Burgin are the authors of this issue's handmade lip balm tutorial, so you can combat chapped lips brought on by cold weather and even have some non-knitted handmade gifts ready for the festive season.

Kate Davies 10 Years in the Making
Patterns

Kate Davies 10 Years in the Making

£20.00
Kate Davies thoughtfully reflects on a decade in design in her anniversary collection of eighteen beautiful patterns. Mixing innovative brand-new work like Sterntaucher and Fleckit with classic re-releases such as Carbeth and Paper Dolls, all patterns are written in Kate's signature clear style across an inclusive size range. There are twelve different pullovers and cardigans to choose from, including simple-to-knit styles such as the Evendoon pullover and cardigan alongside the enjoyable cable challenges posed by Wryit or Tree Tram Tro. Yet Kate's hallmark is perhaps her work with colour, and this collection abounds with bold designs of many hues, including yoke sweaters, a cosy hoody, mitts, cowl, hats and slippers, and the graphic Sterrie blanket with its simple, contemporary feel. A Ravelry download code is included.

Pompom Quarterly Issue 44
Patterns

Pompom Quarterly Issue 44

£17.50
Issue 44: Spring 2023 You never know what the day will bring with spring, so it’s the perfect season for layering! All of the pieces in this issue play with opacity, texture, and colourwork, layering techniques, tones, and transparency - sometimes all at once! Our initial inspiration for this issue came from layering in images such as risographs, shadows, and superimposed photos, which got us thinking about printing and how it works. As a print publication, transferring the words and images we craft so carefully onto paper is part of what we do. We’ve also invited two equally awe-inspiring people to model our knits for you this season. Angel Joy Flores and Alicia Roth Weigel are both activists who work towards a more equitable world for the LGBTQIA+ community in Texas and beyond. More than ever, representation of trans and intersex people is vital and we were honoured to work with them. Featuring designs by: Klara Nilsson - Klaryberry, Maren Odenthal - Knitterista, Jess Kavanagh, Julia Madill, Ara Stella, Susanna Kaartinen - Sanna and Co, Joanne Fowler, Amalia Sieber - Kindred Red, Soraya García Issue 44 also includes a celebration of the art of screen printing by Mei Stephens, who muses on the parallels between printing and knitting, and Hannah McGregor’s second contribution to Pom Pom, this time taking on the colour yellow and its cultural history. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, our recipe for bebinca, a layered Goan dessert, will have your mouth watering!
