Betsy Jumper – Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison

This jumper is inspired by my love of vintage patterns. My favourite era is the 1930s and 1940s. I hope this jumper visually shows that influence but the written pattern isn’t inspired by that era! They were very vague and only had one size. I like writing simple easy to knit patterns that you can just relax with, this is true of this pattern. It doesn’t have any shaping to create the shape, it is the ribbing that shapes perfectly to your body. And it doesn’t have to be fitted, choose the right size and you can have a loose fitting one. My kind of knitting! The yarn and stitches do all the work while you sit back and relax with the knitting.

Another bonus with this pattern is that you can create a tank top or a jumper from it. To create the tank top, just don’t knit the sleeves. The nature of the stitch (love, love, love, stitches that do all the work!) means it doesn’t need any edging to be added to create the armhole. Super Duper!
