Purl & Jane Betsy Jumper
Patterns

Purl & Jane Betsy Jumper

£4.50
Betsy Jumper - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison This jumper is inspired by my love of vintage patterns. My favourite era is the 1930s and 1940s. I hope this jumper visually shows that influence but the written pattern isn’t inspired by that era! They were very vague and only had one size. I like writing simple easy to knit patterns that you can just relax with, this is true of this pattern. It doesn’t have any shaping to create the shape, it is the ribbing that shapes perfectly to your body. And it doesn’t have to be fitted, choose the right size and you can have a loose fitting one. My kind of knitting! The yarn and stitches do all the work while you sit back and relax with the knitting. Another bonus with this pattern is that you can create a tank top or a jumper from it. To create the tank top, just don’t knit the sleeves. The nature of the stitch (love, love, love, stitches that do all the work!) means it doesn’t need any edging to be added to create the armhole. Super Duper!

Baa Ram Ewe Ribblehead
Patterns

Baa Ram Ewe Ribblehead

£5.00
Ribblehead - Alison Moreton The design for this beautiful cardigan is inspired by the Ribblehead viaduct with the view of the landscape framed by the archers of the viaduct. The soft halo of Titus is used to create a gradient of hills and sunset sky, applied to the collar and cuffs of a close fitting yoked cardigan. Worked in a modified slipped stitch colourwork technique, only one colour is used in each row. An alternative option uses a single strand of Dovestone in one colour instead of the double strand of Titus. Featured yarns: Titus, Dovestone

Purl & Jane Spencer Scarf
Patterns

Purl & Jane Spencer Scarf

£4.50
Spencer Scarf - Purl & Jane by Jane Ellison I designed this scarf before I opened the Purl &Jane studio for a pattern book. I had tried other variations before I settle on this stitch pattern and ever since I have been addicted to it. It wasn’t until two years after I designed the Spencer Scarf that I opened the studio and the joy of that is seeing all your Spencer Scarf creations. The shades you picked and how they turned to is forever fascinating because it doesn’t matter how you think the colours are going t behave you just never know until you knit it! I like all my patterns to be simple to knit and this is indeed a simple knit, yet it looks so complicated. It excites me how the stitch patterning works with the three row striped pattern. I like all my scarf patterns to work on both sides so that the ‘reverse’ looks just as good as the ‘right side’ if there was one. And this is true of the Spencer Scarf, I love the smooth stitches on one side and the texture on the other side. This is why I love knitting, small simple details can create an impressive look! Measurements: 17cm x 178cm Recommended yarns: West Yorkshire Spinners Fleece Bluefaced Leicester DK

Rowan Seasonal Palette Cotton Cashmere

Rowan Seasonal Palette Cotton Cashmere

£9.50
Seasonal Palette Cotton Cashmere - Dee Hardwicke An all-seasons yarn, Cotton Cashmere is also equally suited to country and city dressing. Layering is key and designs in this collection include and elegant coat, turtle-neck sweater and wrap. The palette was inspired by Dee's love of visiting city parks and garden squares when not at home in the countryside. The colours of early autumn tend to be less muted than those found in the natural landscape and this palette reflects that, featuring more saturated colours such as Indigo, Golden Dunes and new Myrtle. The shades are completely harmonious, working wonderfully however you choose to combine them. Featured yarns - Cotton Cashmere

Kate Davies Argyll’s Secret Coast
Patterns

Kate Davies Argyll’s Secret Coast

£24.00
Join Kate, Tom and friends on a journey through a beautiful corner of Argyll. Through words and pictures, knitting and writing, history and photography, this book explores the beautiful and intriguing landscape of Cowal, also known as Argyll's Secret Coast. Geographically proximate to lowland Scotland but topographically distinct; separated from the Highlands by land, yet united to the whole of Argyll by water; Cowal's is a landscape of hidden places, surprising tales, and many secrets. This book celebrates the Secret Coast, but while doing so it also asks a series of larger questions about what it means to make -and make-up- the story of a place. How do we read the traces of the past in the spaces of the present? What do we see when we look at Cowal's marginal and coastal landscapes? Which local tales are best remembered, and which narratives really deserve commemoration? The book includes 12 brand-new designs by Kate, beautiful photography by Tom, and a series of thought-provoking essays exploring the history, landscape and built heritage of the Secret Coast from writers Alex Hale, Michael Hartley, Jamie Stewart Jones, Gilbert Márkus and Stephen Mullen.
